Child safety standards
Last updated 8 November 2026
CrowdPop is a social app for adults. People use it to see how busy a venue is, to check in, to follow venues and events, and to talk in a chat room attached to each venue. This page explains our child safety standards and what we do about child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation.
Zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material and for any sexual exploitation of children. Content that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child is not allowed on CrowdPop in any form: images, video, text, chat messages, venue pages, profile content, links, or requests to other people. Accounts that post it, or that use CrowdPop to contact or groom a child, are removed.
Who can use CrowdPop
CrowdPop is for people aged 18 and over. The venues listed in the app are licensed premises. CrowdPop is not directed at children, and it is not a place for under-18s to meet people.
We do not operate a date-of-birth age gate. If we find out that an account belongs to a person under 18, we remove the account and the content attached to it. If you believe a minor is using CrowdPop, report it using the contact details below.
What is not allowed
- Any sexual content involving a person under 18, real or simulated, including drawings, text and AI-generated images.
- Sexual or romantic contact with anyone under 18, including grooming, sextortion, requests for images, and arranged meetings.
- Trafficking, or advertising or arranging the sexual exploitation of a child.
- Links to, or promotion of, sites or services that host or host CSAM.
- Using a venue chat room, direct message, check-in comment or venue page to make any of the above public.
- Impersonating a child, or encouraging anyone else to post the above.
How to report
You can report a chat message or a user straight from the app: open the message or the profile and choose Report. Reports arrive in our review queue with the message and the account attached.
You can also contact us directly, including if you are a parent, guardian, venue operator, school or authority:
Reports about child safety are read by a person, not filtered by a marketing inbox. Please include the account name, the venue and the approximate time if you can. Do not send us CSAM, or a link to it. Describe it instead.
What we do with a report
- We review the report and the content it points to.
- We remove content that breaks these standards, and we may preserve it and the related account records as evidence.
- We suspend or permanently remove accounts that break these standards, and we block them from creating another account on the same device or email address where our systems allow it.
- We report the matter to the authorities listed below where the law requires it, or where a child may be at risk. We may do this without telling the account holder.
Reporting to authorities
Where a report concerns CSAM or the sexual exploitation of a child, we report it to the appropriate authority:
- In Australia: the eSafety Commissioner (esafety.gov.au) and the relevant state or territory police, or the Australian Federal Police where the matter crosses borders.
- Outside Australia: the relevant local law enforcement agency, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC, report.cybertip.org) in the United States.
Anyone can report CSAM to those bodies directly, whether or not they use CrowdPop.
How we moderate
CrowdPop has a chat room per venue. Our team moderates chats and reviews reports, including reports from users, from venues and from people who contact us by email. Venue operators can also remove content from a venue they own.
We do not currently run automated CSAM detection or automated age verification. Moderation of chat and of reports is done by our team.
